In the process of repairing a fuel leak near the pressure regulator I removed the injectors to find what looks like rust at the top end of the injectors where they fit into the fuel log. The car doesn't get used in the summer and in fact hasn't been driven since about May. I'm thinking it's time for remanufactured injectors. Is this a problem others have seen? The gas leak was bad enough that possibly there was no fuel left in the fuel logs. Comments? Suggestions?
Isn't ethanol kinda hygroscopic? Maybe some got pumped to the area and the engine shut down? IDK. My guess is that this isn't something that just happened 2 weeks ago. Might have been a long time coming. Mine would be something that happened in the last 3 years since that is how long they stay till I have Jon at FIC clean them and do the entire TB at the same time.
They are most likely Multecs and belong in the trash since we can't guarantee 100% pure fuel. Get a set of Reman Bosch 3 injectors from FIC. IIRC, under $200. Call them, ask them the size recommendations and order it. Not worth it to rehab Multecs.
While you are there, take the TB apart. Remove top plate, remove IAC, remove IAC housing and clean with brake cleaner. Gentle spray on the IAC pintle and wipe off gently. New gaskets, obviously.
Thanks Aklim for your comments. Ethanol does like to absorb water from what I understand so you are most likely correct. I will do as you suggest and get some Bosch 3 injectors. I see where SoCalJunking sells a set of remanfactured Bosch 3s for $110 through eBay. Seems to be a well regarded Vendor, do you have any comments?

Not sure. I have never tested their products. I have borrowed a friend's workplace bench tester. Checked what I was sending out and compared with his test sheet for before cleaning and against his after cleaning and they were good. IOW he wasn't giving me a line of BS. I have seen injectors that are good looking and run well until you flow bench them. Jon is a known quantity. The other guy isn't,at least to me. My $0.02
Use code HELLO2017 to get 15% off the injectors. Should make it pretty close to socaljunking and his asking price. socaljunking has good reviews as a vendor so I am certain he is sending me a set of injectors. Whether they are really matched and cleaned properly, IDK. Check out what RC Engineering, Fuel Injection Specialties will charge to clean the thing, match it to their pile of injectors and what they change. Should be the basket filter and O-rings.
Edit: Witchhunter is supposed to be pretty good but I have no personal experience with them as yet. I'd see what they charge for a cleaning with new O-rings and filter basket and matching it to each other. So if the cleaning costs are $15 as an average, you have to figure out that they are losing some money listing through eBay, I'd be suspicious as to how they can get it for $110 a set. Witchhunter, for example charges $10 apiece for ONLY flow testing. IOW, you send me the injector, I flow it and give you numbers. For them to sell you a set of injectors, they'd have to pay for a core, pay ebay for the listing and somehow make money after they change the parts and test it twice.
