Default L98 fuel pump in my 58 vette

I have an L98 installed in my 58 Corvette and I modified the fuel tank to accommodate the stock submersible fuel pump. This doesn't work very well as the tank is unbaffled and therefore I'm fuel starved on right turns. I want to convert to an external pump but don't know if a 45 PSI pump is adequate or should I go with a 65 PSI pump? Suggestions?

45# is what a L98 typically runs at but that is at the regulator. The stock pump is capable of around 70#. The pump should be rated at a volume per hour, not just pressure. I ran a Walbro 255 in my modded L98, more than adequate. I'd go to the Racetroncs site and look at specs.

Did you modify the tank to actually use the complete C4 "fuel sender tree" or ........ I'd think dependent upon what you what/how you did it the less expensive and more practical thing to do might be to just add a fuel box/baffle to your tank. Do you have snapshots of the modification that you did?

Would it maybe be easier to just use the VetteWorks LS F-body kit or maybe even just the simple TanksINC affair. Most modified custom builds in these parts use one or the other. The LS F-body is identical to nearly all GM in-tank modular systems used. There's likely a less expensive DIY for a "talented" soul.

Much depends I guess on what's already done to your tank to accommodate the earlier "fuel tree".

But isn't that a submersible pump? I'm looking for an external unit but you answered my question about what pressure pump I need. Now would anyone know what the minimum flow requirement would be for a mildly modified L98?

Now you've made my life more difficult WVZR-1. I hadn't thought of doing as you suggested. However I'm inclined to believe that I'll get my shorts in a bunch regarding the fuel level sensor. The pump and sending unit I currently have is total custom and trying to mount the 58 sending unit could be a bit of a problem. But it's something I'll investigate. Thanks, Steve
