I made a mistake and cranked the engine after I had marked the balancer.
How do I figure out which way it goes? There is an arrow on the balancer but what is the indicator on the hub to match that to? I do see a nub on one side and then on another side of the hub is kinda an arrow is that it? Service manual is no help.
Hellow, if you are trying to put the balancer back on to the crank there is a key crank that the balancer slides over onlly goes on one way. If you are trying to time the car there should be degree marks on the balancer. Need a little more info on what you might be having problems with. There is a slot on the balancer that is 0. At least on my 87 not sure about yours. Good luck.
I've been trying to figure this out for a while now, since I too wasn't sure I had correctly marked the balancer vs the hub when I removed the balancer. The conclusion I came to was to align the arrow on the balancer with the arrow which is on the hub between two of the legs. I haven't put it all the way back together yet. I'm glad you came to the same conclusion and yours runs fine.
