Car is a 94 automatic.
I'm having a problem, if I am driving at 50mph and hit the brake the car feels like it wants to die when it downshifts. It did actually stall when I was at the track in the staging lanes and I lifted my foot off the brake pedal to move forward.
There is a brake release switch that unlocks the tq. converter when the brake is pressed right ?
I am thinking this switch is either stuck or not working and casuing the converter to remain locked.
Am I on the right track here ?
Anyone else have this problem ? any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Re: anyone have to replace the TCC switch? (nickd)
There is a hot 12 volt that runs thru the brake switch-press on the brake to disconnect power. Also there is a ground that is switched on by the ecm-according to mph, gear, shifting etc. Does it seem as if the tcc is locked at all times except when you push on the brake? I had a similar problem after running over a &*%$# rock and denting the pan. I found the ground wire out of the ecm and disconnected it there-still stayed locked up wich told me it was shorted to ground on the ground wire-was inside the pan! It just takes some figurin', but you'll get it.
