Now it's code 32 again, how/what to test or check?
1985 vette, sets code 32 when driven hard. :confused: I'm not sure how to test the EGR Valve or EGR system :( . How much vaccuum is it supposed to have? When is it supposed to have vaccuum? What all is in the EGR valve system/circuit? Thanks in advance for the help. UR2 :cool: :cheers:

You can usually do a quick fix by replacing the egr switch that screws into the top of the short tube that runs from the pass. side exhaust header up to the back of the intake plenum area. It's under $20, and the elec. wire can be spliced into the existing wire, instead of trying to plug the new one into the harness behind the distributor. Buy a GM Service manual or Haynes manual, or both like I did, in order to further diagnose the code 32. Replace this switch first before going further. If you have to replace the egr valve under the plenum, that's also pretty easy to do.

Fix,
I made the same mistake before...he has an 85 and it doesnt have the crossover switch the 86 and later cars do...so he cant use that diagnosis.

I was setting an intermittent 32. I found the vacum line that runs under the plenum from the EGR had melted shut. I cut the melted piece and used a tiny piece of vacum hose to connect the two ends. I haven't seen a code 32 in 5 years since I did that fix.
