Finally got the housing off, after cleaning it up I found numerous small
cracks in the housing. So I thought just replace, but nobody has one.
Is a discontinued part with no cross reference.
Is this because it is alluminium or it or is it actually made different?
Late c3,s housings are still avaliable, will they fit? or how about the
housing off of an LS?
Why not try and clean it up with something like lacquer thinner and us JB weld in the cracks. Then use a thick gasket between it and the block? Your oil is going thru the center of the adapter to get to the filter. The filter should be covering the majority of the adapter. You have nothing to loose trying this.
The alternative would be from a wrecking yard. Or other source for used...
Are you sure you're not just seeing "casting flashing"? Clean it with your choice of product and take a light/medium ScotchBrite pad and then clean with the scuff pad. Flashing will go away and if it's actually a crack it won't.
There's eBay offerings for $25 or so - one is a ask for $25 > make offer but then there's the $8 ship!! A local JY is certainly worth an effort
