Default Replacing Water Pump hose questions.

Hello,

I need to replace the water pump to heater core hose due to damage from a hose clamp. My question is, when I pull off this hose is coolent going to spill everywhere or if i let the car sit for a week, would there not be coolent in there anymore? Do I need to drain the coolent from the radiator for any reason before I do this?

This is the hose I'm referring to:

Yes, you'll dump your coolant. Drain your radiator before removing that hose. Be sure to remove your radiator cap. You'll still spill some coolant from that hose.

Thanks for the quick response. Is it possible to pull off the top side of the hose and then tilt it down to drain everything that way?

Best to pull the knock sensor and what ever you have on the other side for a proper flush. You will not beleive the crap in there.
