Default RiPPED OFF FOR THE FIRST TIME BY JBLT4

even though he seems to be a nice guy, i was a little harsh in my emails cuz i was mad. I bought a march pulley/balancer for my 93 lt1 from, him. After waiting for the belt for a week i installed it. After 10 seconds of runnign there was loud clicking and vibratign in the car. The pulley separated from the balancer, and there were rubber bits all over the place. Besides almost cutting my optispark in half, its all good i guess. Im gonna blame it on bad packaging. Im not too upset considering its my 2nd march pulley that has separated. Still kinda upset about it. Anyone try the asp pullies????????? i think ill buy a set.

Note: Anyone buying a used balancer make sure its properly packaged to protect it.

JB's LT4?

I bought my wheels and tires from him. I paypal'd him the money Friday or Saturday and I had my tires Thursday. He made my list of forum members I wouldn't mind doing business with in the future.

I don't see how you can blame a defective product on him. Bad packaging or not, what's your excuse on the first Mrach Pulley? Bad packaging from the factory?

Now granted I don't know all the details of this transaction at all, but I don't want to see a forum member get a bad name because he sold a defective product if he didn't know it was defective.

I guess I should defend myself here....In the last 2 months I have sold to forum members performance parts from my vette starting with a 383 cid LT4 motor, msd digital 6, Hooker long tube's, a Nitrous kit, A LT4 Tach Cluster, Wheels and tires, a centerforce clutch, mass air sensor and alot more I can't remember..The pulley in question was right off that motor working fine, I thoughly inspected before I SOLD IT..There were no cranks or defects on the pulley when it left my possession..I would not and did not rip you off..My reputation is worth more to me than a $75 pulley, this thread is absurd....This guy is very reasonable let me tell you he start's threating to pay me and my car a visit on his on first two emails since this happened yesterday..

I understand that it sucks to get ripped off, but that doesn't sound like that is what happened here. How long did you try to work it out before starting this thread?

You had one go bad and then bought a used one? I'd have gone to a different brand on the second try.

I have a ASP pulley. The quality is top notch. I will be installing it soon. March pulleys look cheap. :yesnod:

If the first march was new, and the second was used, did you stop to take extra time and inspect it knowing the first one went bad? When you have a new part that goes bad, thinking it was defective, did you contact the manufacturer and ask them if this is a common problem? I've been in this same predicament before, and I've found that being mad and trying to get my point across is almost impossible. Take time to collect our thoughts before we make the call! Then maybe we could rationally come up with a solution to the problem. It sounds like we all need to keep things like this in mind when doing business with a private party or business. I've been on both ends selling and buying, and when something goes wrong take time to calm down before contacting the other party, you will be suprised how much better it goes!

Threating a man and his car the day after??? What the hell did his car do to you? If this is the second one to go bad then could something be causing this to happen?

So, if I follow your logic correctly, he "ripped you off" because he sold you something that wasn't worth what you paid? Or you think he purposely sold you something that was worthless? It seems like you're mad because you think he did this on purpose.

You bought a used part, got it in the mail and, I presume, you checked it out when you got it and it looked OK, or you wouldn't have installed it. Sometimes bad things happen to good parts... but you made a trade-off... you bought a used part for less money than a new part, and you didn't get a new-part warranty. I sort of assumed most everyone on this type of forum implicitly understood that used parts are sold "as-is". A salesman explained the two-part used car warranty that came with my "as-is" car as, "if you drive it a block from here and breaks into two parts, you own both parts".

Sounds like the part was a victim of bad luck, or bad timing, or something else... but that's the chance you take with used parts (even with some new parts!).

It doesn't seem fair to a guy to publicly accuse him of ripping you off unless you've determined, without a doubt, that he knowingly sold you a bad part and just wanted to get your money for nothin'. Doesn't seem, from his post, that is the case.

i guess i was a bit harsh. I was mostly upset cuz i waited a week and a half for a belt for it and it breaks in 10 seconds. Like i said, im not too uspet cuz it was a used part and all. The balancer did have tons of marks and scrateches on it and looked liek it was 20 years old, then again it was a used part i bought - cant complain. the first balancer was damaged when the shoppe hammered on it to get it off, back then i never knew what they were doing so i assumed it was fine, they damaged it, the pulley was not defective. To make my point clear, for those of you buying used parts, just ensure proper packaging for sensitive parts. Im wondering how the pulley came apart in 10 seconds, seemed liek it was glued together. Im going to mail the balancer back to jblt4 just so he can look at it- but not before i call March and complain, maybe theyll hook me up with a new one for a decent price and exchange.
in the end its been a day and im not bothered a bit, i just feel bad at bitching at jb, so ill apologize. Im sorry for being so rude. I just honestly think it got damaged during the shipment so i cant blame you.
i guess ill try asp pullies for a change :)
