I am going to buy a cat back exhaust system soon. I am looking at either borla or power effects. Every borla system i've heard I love, I've never heard a power effects before. Both are pretty expensive, for the 2.5" borla with square intercooled tipes is about 750+/- shipped. Power effects is 900, but i've seen people selling brand new PE systems for about 600. I also was looking at TPIS, their piping is HUGE! I heard they don't fit good though and that might be to big for my car now, but later down the road I am going to need bigger pipes. There is also B&B, but they are 1000$! So looks like im left with borla or power effects. I've heard good things about PE, because they are adjustable and 2 3/4" piping. Does anyone have any gains from this system, 1/4 mile wise? Same thing with borla, anyone have the 2.5" system? How do these systems fit? My brother has flowmasters, and his didn't fit quite right, one muffler is a little crooked. Once I decide on a good cat back, im also getting a high flow cat and MAD 2.5" front Y-pipe, headers are outta my price range. Thanks everyone.
I just installed Power effects on my vette. Very good quality and very good fit and finish. The key if you go this way is to buy direct to the factory. Pricing is competitive this way. I don't have their web address seach for Power Effects on Google and its at the top. So far I like them a lot. It took 30 minutes to install. Easyest mufflers/exhaust system I have ever put on. Three hangers, ten bolts, and a clamp that all fit perfect. Too quiet at first, but it is just right after a couple of weeks and eliminating pre cats. It is amazing how much the cats cut the sound. Good luck how ever you chose.
Thanks for the reply, I think I am going to go with power effects. They have one of the biggest pipes out there. All I hear are good things about them, even though there are a little expensive, it should be worth it.
I just put a set of PE on my 89 this weekend. REALLY easy, and the fit is perfect. I'd be happy to email you some mpegs of the sound if you want.
If you wouldn't mind I'd like to hear it. I heard it on PE's site, but it wasn't a very good clip. I don't think installing it will be a problem for me, my only major problem is affording it! How much is it on sale for direct from PE?
Thanks for all the replies, I think I am going to go with power effects. Once I get a little more money saved :D I can't wait to see what gains I get and how much louder it is going to sound!
