Default 1990 ESM's over heat??

I'm assuming ESM is the correct name for the main computer.

My son sat in his car eating with it running for about 10 minutes then drove over to fill up with gas. After filling up, the motor would not turn over. All lights and accessories worked fine.

It took me about 10 minutes to get there but still not turning over. I leaned into the engine compartment, placing my hand on the ESM while leaning. The ESM was so hot I could not keep my hand on it.

I got a bag of ice and placed it on top of the ESM. After about 5 minutes it cranked up and drove fine all the way home. When we got home the ESM wasn't hot like before and the car cranked right up.

The fans are coming on, the battery is fine. I had an 88 years ago and never had a problem like this even in bumper to bumper traffic on 100 degree days.

Anyone with similar experience or ideas????

Thanks
Wade

The correct term is PCM for Powertrain Control Module.

I have nothing to suggest for your issues.
