So, I'm new to 'Vettes in general, and I purchased my first car last spring, a c4 with quite a few miles and a decent number of repairs needed, and I was thinking to make it work until I have enough to pull it apart and redo suspension, brakes, cooling, and engine, specifically a LT4, but I'm not sure if the car itself can handle that much speed and power w/o axle/frame work, total newb, so I'm asking the guys who've been doing this for years, rather than BSing it and accidentally messing up something majorly important. thoughts?

Car came "stock" with up to 405 hp (ZR-1) and well over 500 lbs of torque (Callaway). And as Diz mentioned, there are folks running with 7...800 hp. Sledgehammer 'Vette had 890hp and ran 254 MPH... It's capable with proper prep.

forgot to add:
for the independant rear:
do extend the bump stops to prevent the irs from twisting itself up at launch due to rear squat.
consider a stiffer rear spring also and polyurethane (or even solid) batwing bushingS
you also want the good u-joints w/o grease fittings (thats a weak spot).
they do make thicker diameter aluminum or steel half-shafts if you are worried and want more insurance.
