My car normally turns on without a problem but occasionally it will not start on the first turn. But the second time will always turn it on. Anyone have insight as to what is going on? Battery cables and terminals are clean. After it starts up it stays on and drives with no problem. It's my daily driver too. 1995 corvette lt1.

Key it on twice for two second each time just till the lights come on the dash but no starter. Then start it if it starts every time then change your fuel filter. If that does not do it check your fuel pressure.

Sounds like what is termed generally as a VATS "lock out" and is often experienced with key cylinders with worn contacts OR keys with excessive wear. Happens often or frequently with earlier VATS. Slow down and enjoy the "BULB CHECK"!
I don't see the relationship of fuel filter or pressure check suggested.
***If you have multiple keys maybe you swap. Being a DD maybe you need to be sure you've a valid VATS spare!
If you experienced the same "lock out" with a second key then you could assume the cylinder maybe. Not knowing how talented you are I might suggest maybe the purchase of a correct bypass from someone. There's what's generally thought to be a quality on eBay that's less than $20. You buy it and carry it as just maybe "insurance" that if needed you could use it.
I wouldn't buy but fabricate, you need only a cannibalized connector, correct resistance resistor, a solder and 3/32 heat shrink. If you don't understand the fabrication the buy is maybe very reasonable. You just confirm the value of "the buy" as soon as you receive it NOT WHEN YOU NEED IT!!
The resellers usually offer similar @ $25 or less.
