Default Direct port system

I recently purchased the '85 in my sig. This is a picture of the bottom of the intake manifold. http://temp.corvetteforum.net/c4/mshay/

The previous owner was after a stealth setup. I'm about ready to finish the install. Does anybody see any problems with this setup? Thanks!

I recognize that manifold. You must have gotten it from Jeb Burnett. It should work well. I would suggest that you install a lifter valley oil shield to keep hot oil from super heating the nitrous/fuel lines. Other than that, it should work great. NOS has been plumbing stealth manifolds like that for years.

I would love to see some more pics of that manifold. I am going to put a NOS Sportsman fogger on my LT1 (NOS kit# 5088). I have the kit and the manifold is off the engine, just need to get cracking on installing the foggers. I was wondering where I would put the nozzles, but under the manifold looks like it would work great! The only downside I can see is changing the jets.

Hey, you wanna sell that? :jester

Thats pretty cool. Are you going to try and put a cover over the nozzles and lines? or could this work as an oil cooler? :jester

Where are you mounting the solenoids? and yeah, where do the fuel and N2O lines come out of the intake/lifter valley?

I basically just hope it does not leak.

The solenoids are not mounted yet. Still trying to figure the best place for them.

The lines exit in the rear. The distributr kind of covers them up.

That is another problem I have to solve. It is currently in the well behind the passenger seat, but it is a few inches to tall. So I don't know If I will switch to smaller bottles and put one in each well or some how disguess the top of the bottle. Maybe a fake speaker box?

I got an Idea for you MShay. You could keep the bottles in the compartments behind the Seats then you could pu t a cover over it and say that you had the compartments removed. :yesnod: So when they open it they only see a flate plate that covers it and can be screwed into the sides of the Compartment. This maybe could add some saftey to.

I'm leaning more and more to the spare tire area. (After all that is why they created roadside assistance plans). It is far from a daily driver and I can' see me taking a family vacation in it so that might be the way i go.

If your looking for a bottle hiding place try to run the spare tire delete method.. I have seen quite a few guys pictures of these.. Don't know if I would do it myself but it sure looks cool.

Is that like having a Fake tire just the outside layer of it and then have the bottle tucked up above the cover. So it would look like a real spare from underneath but when you take off the cover you have acess to the Bottle. Is this what your talking about?

Hide it in the spare! Here's my 10lb bottle. The fit is pretty tight so you'll have to mount it just right. Put it too far back and you'll hit the sway bar unallowing the cover to close. Mount it too far foward and you'll get in the way of the carrier bolt.

Now imagine the bumper of the drunk guy behind you slamming into that nitrous tank valve and driving the bottom of the nitrous tank into your differential. Think of a rock and a hard place. The spare tire is part of the designed anti crush structure of the C4. GM even sells a structural support for people who want to run without a spare. A 1000psi nitrous tank is not what I'd call structual.

NUckINg FuTS, after you have gone through a couple bottles, post how well your system works when the bottle gets low. With the bottle mounted the direction you do, the gravitational forces will direct the nitrous away from the pickup tube in the bottom of the bottle. I would expect the system will run really rich or intermittenly when the bottle gets below 60-70% full. Your is actually the first that I have seen mounted with the valve towards the back, which does make it easier to manually open. Most of the ones I have seen in the tire carrier have the tanks mounted horizontally with the sway bar.

Hmmm, never thought of that. Actually, the only reason I have the bottle positioned that way is so the bottle would be on the correct angle for best nitrous flow.
