Default 1987 T-Top new rubber

I recently installed a new rubber into my T-Top on now my latches won't go in correctly and there is a huge gap between the back of the T-Top and the top of the car, if anyone has had similar problems how did you fix it?
Help would be much appreciated, thank you!

if the targa top will not fit after weather strip install, you will need to adjust the mounting points. it involves removing the rear trim halo that goes over your head, be careful with it, it will be brittle, and then removing the front trim panels on either side under the front targa top mounting points. you remove those and then you have access to move the front mounting points.

i had to do this on an 86 that i bought and the owner was driving around with the top totally unmounted. just sitting there. he drove 3 hours to me with it like that!!!

weather stripping gets compressed with age and when you add new stuff, the mounting needs to be adjusted. have a beer, put on good music, and take your time, use the right screw drivers and torx bit (i think you have to pull the seat belt shoulder anchors off).

its easy. i did the front first, then the back. now my targa bolts right in no issues.
