Can anyone tell me what the rear spring shim set up is on a 96 corvette. I'm putting a 96 rhz spring in my 89 but discovered it's slightly loose when bolted to the rear end. I found spacers on eBay. I'm getting both 4 and 5 mm spacers and the paper spacers. So I'll have extra to work with.
An FE1 spring in the later C4 call for 2-5.21 and 1-6.11 on each side plus the insulator and the stack above/below can be altered. The FSM references OE builds by spring color and not code. To accomplish a fit of any combination you measure the spring, the bracket to housing and fill with appropriate. If you were very close you could "tweak" the fit by altering the bracket plate height.
What do you have now for spacers?
There's I believe 1.72, 4.39, 5.21 & 6.11
The FSM seems to be consistent for all years '89+ for the rear so I'd think you should be able to use a combination of what you've got and maybe just a "tweak" of the plate height. Measure your old spring thickness and compare to the RHZ - if the RHZ is less than the removed then that's what you need. Where you put it above or below is your choice!
