front ac-compressor shaft seal
Is it possible to replace the front shaft seal and o ring of the 1984-1987 ac compressor yourself? I know the manual mentions a lot of special tools for it but I was wondering if someone has tackled the job without them. Lets assume the system has no charge in it. ;)

You could remove the compressor and take it to a very good A/C shop and they could replace the seal. Good shops should have the seal puller/installation kits. They may advise you the shaft is likely worn and may not solve your problem. Some people worry too much.
