today driving my 1993 auto c4 everything went great with no noticeable change in "driveability". I drove it for about 80 miles on the highway and NY roads are rough around this time of year. (May have something to do with my problem) while driving service "engine soon" light came on at the same time as "service abs" light came on. When I got home I jumped the Obd connector with a paper clip and for module 9 got "err"
other codes we history codes and were in module 4 h26 h72. Any suggestions ? Why would it not be able to pull codes from module 9? Looks like the tranny was replaced before I got it but everything works well. I haven't needed to test abs but the traction controlled worked last week, haven't tried it since the whole Service light issue.
Traction control is not working either, pressing the button does nothing, symbol does not show up in panel but traction control is deffinantly no longer working
ABS and traction control are both related because they use the wheel speed sensors to determine what the wheels are doing in relation to each other. You need to figure out which wheel speed sensor circuit is bad (there might be more than one that's bad). A "bad" circuit could either be a broken wire or a wire shorted to ground.
Get a wiring diagram of the ABS system and a DMM (Digital MultiMeter) and poke around until you figure out what to look for.

thank you for the response, will a bad wheel sensor typically throw a code? Or can this cause a communication lose to the ebtcm?
The "ERR" certainly hints an issue with the EBTCM and CCM communication. Do you have the FSM? Seems likely NOT.
There's multiple fuses in both the UNDER-HOOD and IP locations that the EBTCM relies upon for power and operation. Have you checked them and do you know which are involved?
Your one HISTORY code is I believe VSS related, do you have speedometer operation now? How about cruise? If a stock radio does the SCV work? What do you have in the DIC for a BULB CHECK?
Have you cleaned the EBTCM connectors? Any water in the compartment? Has there ever been?
i wasn't sure how to respond through email, but thank you for the help! Iv checked the large 20a fuse behind the battery labels abs and it rang out my multi meter continuity test. I wasn't sure which other fuses to check. I do not have a fsm but will be purchasing one asap. What is the procedure to access the ebtcm? I have a feeling it got wet, my weatherstripping is shot and the PO did not have it in a garage. I haven't been pressed to do weatherstripping because I keep it inside. I want to tackle the mechanics first. Dave I really appreciate the help, sorry for late response. Long day at work, also I believe module 4 code 26 is being cause by my air pump. I hear it kick on when the code is thrown and if I start the car when it's already warm it does not throw 26 and I do not hear the air pump. The air pump sounds like crap when it runs.
I guess Il just keep updating this forum and hope for more input
removing the drivers seat seat today and going to clean my connections and evaluate the ebtcm for any water damage also I can check my relays while there.
