It will bolt on, but you will need to check the wire routing. Could be too much of a PITA and might be best to stick with factory?

I'm changing it because I've got a set of hooker headers, I've got the drivers side done! But I think my standard starter is too big

When I installed headers on my '87, I bought this Hitachi-style starter from Summit Racing. This was a bolt-in and I didn't need to make any changes to the wiring. True "plug-n-play". This starter is also "clockable" so you can turn the solenoid to add clearance where needed.

The size is comparable to the later smaller size starters from '89-on. The full-size starter that was in my '87 would have been a royal PITA to re-install after the headers went on.

I think there was a thread here about using the later LT1 starters in the earlier C4's and it mentioned it required changing the length of some of the wires. Given the price of the starter in the link, you might be better off going with a brand-new starter compared to a used starter that may require some modifications to work properly.

One other concern may be the number of flywheel or flexplate teeth from the '95 so that it would work with the '87. The Summit starter works with both the 153 or 168-teeth components found on the '87. Not sure how a '95 starter would work.

Good mod to go to the newer starter. Many have done it. Use search function

Is the '95 an OE/GM original or a reman from someone else? If original GM/OE how many miles? Has he sent you a snapshot of the connector arrangement? I'd think with a snapshot of the connector arrangement you should be able to determine if it will be a direct bolt-on.

Post the snapshot of the connection arrangement and I'd think it much easier to answer your question.
