Default Fresh Start-up

OK ladies and gents, Any good advice you would like to share with me before I put fire to it , How long should I prime it before I start it? Also the car has been sitting for @1yr. I already drained the gas tank, should I prime the fuel lines also, to get all the old gas out?

Thanks for your advance...

Did you put fuel stabilizer in the tank when you stored it? If so, I wouldn't worry about it. If you didn't, I would use what's in the lines, and run some injector cleaner in the next tank of gas. Hopefully, someone with some more knowledge will chime in here.

Good luck.

Change oil and filter, and be sure to put half a qt of oil in the filter before you put it on.

May want to change the coolant and other fluids too.
Then drive it alot, use up any old gas quickly and refill with some of the hi-octane stuff and run that through.

If you want to use injector cleaner, use the Valvoline stuff.

And dont let the car sit for another year. :nono:

With fuel injection there is no need to prime the system. Your fuel pump will supply much more fuel to the injectors than they can accept. Since you have drained the tank of the old gas, you have eliminated any major contamination resulting from water accumulating. Your only concern would be to have the motor properly lubricated as it turns over to start. A 0 or 5 weight oil would be recommended. After it starts, do not rev the engine for a few minutes to allow the oil to do it's job. With a fully charged battery, your engine should start within a few seconds. Good luck!
