I have a 1986 TPI engine going into a project car and want to keep the cold start injector. SO I am Trying to find out how to test the switch that goes to the cold start injector before I ask the next question, where can I get one if I need it. Thanks.
..... Try putting it in the freezer for a while and ohm check it as it warms up ... when cold it should be closed and will open when it decides its warm enough ..... I'm sure I have one in my spare electrical parts bin ... I'll take a look later .....
What exactly is the project? You don't need the CSI if you are willing to put up with longer crank times or get the tuner to increase the pulse width like the newer L98 engines.
The project is putting a 1986 L98 into a 78 C3. I know I could have someone updae the ecu and eliminate the cold start, but I don't want to get into that, since the engine I have has all of the cold start set up. The probelm is I don't know the history of the parts that I got ( I have completely rebuilt the engine, and everything that is in it) and now I am down to installing the sensors and switches. I don't want to have done all this and have an issue with the one piece I didn't change out so I am trying to determine for sure if it is good or not. Previous owner of motor did all kinds of things with switches etc and finally gave up on all of it. Thanks for all your replies so far.

I don't know what to say. I suggest that you send it to FIC to verify that the injector is good as opposed to the Dr Feelgood ohm test since you are this far.
Mr WVZR1, yes it has the ALDL, very complete set up from TPI parts. Cusstom made harness for whatever you need or don't want. I am doing this project to learn ( old dog learning new tricks) as much as having a car totally the way I want it. Trying not to cut corners, and on the $20 sensors, just replace them since I don't want to screw around with them. But this switch is a little pricey to just throw away, and not wasy to get, so I want to be as sure as I can that it is good enough to use. And after seeing the 86 shop manual page, I remembered I have one tucked away in a box among all the other stuff I have. SO I will see what I can do to test it out. Thanks. to all.
FYI, the oring for the cold start line connector to the fuel rail is an odd shape and hard to find. I found this out myself a couple of weeks ago, ended up ordering through McMaster.com. Happened to be a 50-pack.
Anyway, I have a few spares , need one, pm me and I'll send you one via an envelope for free. United States area, that is. Others can at least find some stamps for me.
