So I ordered the UV filter kit and the lights from batee.com when I noticed an issue with my tach filter. After taking it apart I found that the tach and the info LCD screens seemed to be different from the spedo and the black portion on the back was peeling and bubling off. It looks like the graphics and inside UV filter are on the same layer and is completely different from the spedo.
I can get a UV filter from Brian at Batee.com if i can replicate the graphics. Or, I can spend $110 plus shipping each for new LCD lenses. Or I can blow the whole budget and buy a rebuilt unit for $350.
that rear graphic mask is actually the rear polarizing film membrane. remember it takes two layers of polarizing film at defined angles (bias) to each other for full polarizing effect. as far as I know, it the rear graphics film is compromised, the LCD display is pretty much shot. replacement is in order.
