While I've got the motor out the car, I figured now would be the best time for a new clutch also.
What's the best one out there in both performance and price for a mild heah/cammed car that will see about 75% mild daily driving, and 25% spirited weekend playing.
I don't need anything spectacular,...just something a little better than stock.
first off, i'd reccomend not to buy SPEC products. i've heard way too many horror stories like disintegrating clutch taking out the firewall and pedals!!
good companies seem to be Hayes, Ram and Centerforce.
that's as far as my reasearch went, because i've got about $0 to replace my slipping clutch.
YMMV
Funny to hear about the SPEC clutches. Hate to admit it, but I'm a converted Mustang racer, new to the Corvette scene. Centerfoce clutches are junk for mustangs, and the SPEC clutch is what all the hardcore racers are using. I had one in my car for over 2 years, and it was fantastic on the street. Very light pedal pressure, and great grip at the track.
I'd listen to these veteran Corvette guys, though. They know what's going on.
it seems that SPEC clutches are good, but they can't get the fitment right for the C4's. then customer service says to drive it around, it'll get better
it just doesn't seem worth the gamble when there are other choices.
i have heard nothing but good things about centerforce and hayes clutches though i havent really heard much about ram. and for those spec clutches :smash: i wont use em one came apart in my friends 84 vett
