I fixed my power door lock switch today and now I'm setting off the alarm when I go to open the door. Here's what I'm doing, what part of this is wrong?
Turn car off
Open door
Push door lock button
Go away, do whatever, and return
Use key to unlock driver's door (turn clockwise)
Open door, horn goes off
Put key back in lock and turn counter clockwise, alarm stops
Is there some step I'm missing? Thanks for any info that might help.
Only thing I can think of is your switch is backwards, because turning the key to the right should shut down alarm. No way does key to left shut it off. I have 85.
Maybe that's the case. It's armed now so I'll check it when I go out for lunch and report back.
On an unrelated note, I think your car is how mine looked when it left the factory. Previous owner repainted it though and I just put in red interior this winter. Looks different now!

Okay, here's what I've found out. If I put the key in the lock and turn it counterclockwise first and then clockwise to unlock the door then it turns the alarm off. I guess my car is weird.

I think like xrav22 said that the switch is on backwards inside the door. Remove the alarm switch and flip it over 180 on the key actuator and you should be good.

Okay, thanks. It probably got changed when the previous owner had it repainted.
