Default C beam Dana 44

Sine I've done a Lloyd Elliot stage II build and a 3000 converter I've decided to get rid of my Dana 36 with 3.07 in my 1994 and go to a Dana 44. I have found a good deal on a torque arm drive shaft beam (c beam). It is from a ZF 6 sp. Will this work with a Dana44? Also, does anyone know of a good source for a driveshaft? Thanks Gary

Since the only C4's that actually had a D44 were all manual transmissions the C-beam needs to be from a manual of some sort. The ZF C-beam will be fine. The drive-shaft from the same car would do well also and you just change the slip-yoke to the mate to the A4.

I read somewere in here that you will need a 1/2inch shorter driveshaft. I do NOT know if that's true, just passing it along.

It will require a shorter driveshaft. I just didn't know if someone knew of a source. Thanks

..... Find a driveshaft shop near you ... there are several here in the Tampa Bay area , there is bound to be one near you that can tell you how to measure for the new shaft , but FWIW I generally have a D36 shaft shortened by 1" for D44 apps and have never had a problem ... shorten , rebalance , and new u-joints installed is around $200 .....

I reused the dana 36 driveshaft and redrilled the c-beam.

http://joby.se/corvette/mods/2001-0X11_diff/

The driveshaft was not too long when in place, but too long to mount without unbolting the c-beam and dropping the rear of the tranny a bit.

Good to see you visit! It's been awhile!

I've used your C4 wheel ID information for many years. Contributed some information to you a couple times to get it to where it's at now. There's way more information regarding C4 wheels on your ID Specs than most others likely even know how to calculate. I've not checked accuracy recently but unless you've edited something or been "hacked" - it's easily the BEST

Those that aren't familiar here's what he contributed many years ago .......
