Default Exotic Muscle Headers on LT1

How do you guys running the Exotic Muscle headers on their LT1's like them? Any sound clips?

Their description from their website:

Finally available a 1 3/4" tuned header that LT1 high performance engines require. Designed to tuck close into the underbody for the best possible ground clearance. Ceramic coating is also available.

Price:
$425

This seem like a pretty good deal, since ceramic coating from the vendors is usually not the greatest quality (atleast not as good as JetHot, IMHO).

Has there ever been a comparison between header manufacturers?

I would LOVE to get their stainless longtubes, but 850 is a bit much for my wallet right now.

TIA,

Mike

Exotic uses HPC coating on their headers (HPC is literally located down the road from them). HPC is the best coating around IMO. The headers are of excellent quality as well. They are charging ~$215 for the HPC coating. That will put you at around $650 total.

EM recently switched over to a new manufacturer for their headers. I assume they are of equal or better quality than before.

Hope this helps

Sounds good. I think all the different long tubes have their advantages/ disadvantages and sound to be fairly equal when it comes to power, so I guess it just comes down to price in the end. I have seen coated hookers under $500.

Thanks.

Keep in mind, the Hookers you've seen are the 2149's. They are made specifically for the L98. Due to the location of the O2 device, you would need to remove it and reweld it in the correct LT1 location- $$$. TPIS/EM's are LT1/4 specific, and have the O2 equip. in the correct location. I've found that they all equal out in the end to be about a $100 difference.

I think EM's new headers are done, last I saw it was still in fitment/adjustment phase. .but what I saw was really impressive...very nice design. Similar, to TPIS, but with some improvements. The HPC coating is always top quality. Give Trevor a call and see what the situation is.

I will have to do some digging through my links; $479 seems to ring a bell.

I checked out Exotic Muscle web site and the description of the LT headers sounds good, but price for ceramic coating is additional $215. I see that Summit has hooker 2151-1 ceramic coated for $495. Does anybody out there have Exotic Muscle headers? If so, are they worth the extra?

The exotic muscle headers are on http://www.exoticmuscle.com As to getting coated L-98 headers for an LT-1, I wouldn't. You need to get the bungs installed for the O2 sensors and this will ruin the coating. The best way to get them is to get the uncoated, install the bungs, and then have them coated. Just my $.02. I'm going to look at the EM ones closely. To bad they don't have a picture on the site of them. I'd like to see them before buying.

Well, so much for that.

Anyway, if you go to their exhaust page, it is the 6th from the bottom.

Do the EM headers bolt to the catback system or do you have to adapt them to the exhaust system? The DRM headers mated directly to the catback, too bad they don't make them anymore.

They don't bolt up directly - you'll have to modify your stock exhaust system.

It sure would be nice if they ran to the factory locations, or atleast offered an extension kit. Seems to me it would be easy money for them. Heck, maybe when I make mine I'll make a few extra and sell them!

The only vendor I have come across that does offer a bolt-up solution is DRM, at $950.
