dye never worked for me. plastic and vinyl paint/dye in spray cans works great
its amazing the mixed results with the whole RIT dye thing.
some great, some didn't work.
how did you attempt it? did you use heat? did you use salt? did you use copious quantities of dye packets? did you let soak for a week submerged?
I went to buy dye last night and they had only 1 bottle of the grey stuff. sold out in the city wth.
I am 95% sure that the reason for the mixed results with dyeing have to do mostly with the type of material the carpets are made with. nylons and wool/cotton work well. polyester do not work well at all. I think that is what it all comes down to. Still don't have clarity on what type of material the C4 carpets are made from.
Here is a great thread showing awesome results and tactics. I am not doing a color change. Just refreshing my medium grey to get rid of all fading.
Are you going to spray the dye solution with a pump style sprayer? Interested in how this turns out. Make sure you wear some rubber gloves dealing with very hot water and dye.
