It is not hard to remove the IAC. Just be sure you disconnect the battery before you do anything. Use Intake manaifold cleaner on it and clean your throttle body at the same time.

While you are at it, why not do the throttle body bypass of the coolant

After reinstalling the IAC you should adjust the TPS. There is a specific procedure to do this properly located in tech tips.

I think the manual cautions against using any type of solvents on the IAC. I think it has to do with solvent getting into the inner workings. I'd just scrape the crud off the end and wipe off the residue with a rag.

.....but that's me :seeya

I couldn't get at the IAC with a wrench or a pliers. It's too tight down there and it's a huge nut. Took the throttle body off and cleaned up the whole thing. It was a piece of cake. You'll need a gasket set. Got at Auto Zone for $5. Have better performance all around, and a little higher, smoother idle.

The manual recommends that you do not emerse the IAC in fluids!

Your bio says you have a 92. For that year there is no adjustment for the TPS as with earlier models. Don't use cleaning agents on the IAC. Just carefully clean it with rags and check the pintle deapth when reinstalling (1- 1/8" ). You can use throttle body cleaner to clean out it's location in the throttle body itself.
Good luck.
