I love my Hawks but they are a little dusty. Very quiet and stop great. You may also want to look at EBC green. The tirerack has them. Supposed to be quiet and low dust.
i run the Raybestos Brutestops on my cars. they are a carbon enhanced pad with a life time replacement warranty. (never buy pads again) the price is good and the performance is EXCELLENT!
I'm currently running EBC Greenstuff. I can't complain about performance...excellent braking and they have little or no fade apparently due to the Kevlar based materials. The claims of "dust free" or slight dusting however is exaggerated. I'd buy them again.
Hi Mojo, If you don't want low dust and want regular dust, I'd look at the hawks. I love mine. They dust a little more than stock, but then with the C5 upgrade the pads are also 40% larger so that's to be expected. I got those from ZIP through the forum mall for something like $75. I've seen the EBC elsewhere but I don't recall where unfortunatley.

Re: brake pad reccomendatios please (vettmech)
I installed the NAPA ceramix at 30k miles. They should be broken in properly for best stopping. They produce very little dust and do not make any noise. A little touchy on initial pedal application but not objectionable. Very expensive unless you get a deal from a NAPA dealer. A forum member sold me the fronts at a substantial discount.
I did not turn my rotors. Simply sanded them with an orbital sander and 150 grit paper to remove most of the shallow grooves. That's what the Helm's manual says, surprisingly. It also said do not turn the rotors unless you have pedal pulsation.
I have the Performance Friction Z-rated pads. They stop great, but when they get really warm they begin to squeal a little bit. They also dust pretty heavy if you use them hard. They probably aren't exactly what you are looking for. Remember however that a dustless pad is a stopless pad.
I wish I knew what was on my 96 now... no dust, stop good and no noise... they are getting close to needing replacement thou, so I think I'll be going C5 front setup with the Napa Ceramix all the way around.

Same here on my 92. I can't remember what brand, because I bought "Pre-Loaded Calipers" for the front from Auto Zone. When I bought them I figured I would be changing the pads out soon after, but suprisingly, they stop good, little dust, and zero noise. I will look to see if I still have the original box that the calipers came in, but I figured the pads were just house brand, which usually suck.
Update: I just found out what my pads are. They are "Performance Friction." I never have heard of them before, but I have to say I am impressed.
I'm not sure if EBC makes pads for an 85, but I really like mine, (green). They cost less than Hawk. I have seen no dust from mine. This version is NOT a track pad. I tried to bed them like a track pad, they didn't like that too well. I have found them to be very predictable.

I took a couple days to hear back from them, but they were helpfull.
I have Raybestos Plus pads front and rear; good stopping, quiet and little dust.
To assure quietness, don't foreget to bed the new pads and put some anti-rattle on the pad's metal backing. Also, replace the spring clips that supply tension between the front pads and the caliper.
I am using NAPA Ceramix they meet your goals, no squeel, very reduced dust. I have them on the front. It's really strange to see the rear wheels getting dirty much faster than the front.
I've been pleased with the PFC Z-Rated pads. I wash the car once a week, and the dust is not a bother. If they don't make them for 85's, that's a shame, but the Hawk's seem to be a good alternative.
