I have reciently aquired an 87 vette, it was just one of those things that you just couldn't pass up $3k. When i got it i knew it needed a lot of work, but i didn't know half of what it needed. Two days after i got it i spun a bearing :mad . once i got over it i decided to just do the quickest thing to get it running agian, so i put a 305 out of a 96 fullsize in it, it isn't wonderful, but it runs.
I found a 400 that i am building for it. so far i have stock crank, lunati rods, and a set of keith black pistons.
i am not worried about building a racing engine, just a torque monster. So with that said, can the stock alum. heads be used with mild port job (of course) and the stock intake? and what size cam would be best for my set up, this is my daily driver/ weekend racer.
The TPI setup will be VERY restrictive on a 400+ci engine. Its like puttin a 200cfm carb on a 454.
But if you must keep the TPI, the stock heads will get it to run, but like i said, theyre still restrictive, the port is not big enough for that motor. Youd need something like AFR 195-210 (airflowresearch.com) heads and a Superram intake, then that thing will pull to 6000rpm easy and smoke the tires the whole way. With that i would use a Accel 219 cam or bigger.
But if you had to keep the TPI, then an Accel 211/213 cam would work well with TPI.
Are you kiding us????????????What no interior...no body parts???Wrecked??????
Just can not believe it....
tony
nah bro, just the seats were shot(almost no covering on the driver's), all weather stripping needs to be replaced, diff leaks( installed new seal), dash cracked, door panels need to be replaced, and needs paint. prob. a few other minor things
just another project.
One of those 'vette salvage guys on eBay told me one time that any C4 can be parted out and get back $6K. And that's throwing out the engine bottom end, drive train and frame (too hard to ship).
