Rebuild stalls
I have a rebuilt L98 consisting of Bored out .020, Cam 450L/2900, Flat top pistons, 52 mm BBk Throttle body& hd springs on late aluminum heads and a stage 2 chip. Question Do I need to upgrade my torque converter to maintain a good idle. Everything else is stock. Stalls in traffic with 500 rpm idle.

You need to move your idle up. First try setting your base timing up to 8-10 degrees. If this does not help, then the chip should be changed. You really need a custom tune and not a chip off the shelf. Stock converter is about a 1400 stall. So the converter is not the issue.
