Default Voltage spike

Hello Everybody,

I own a 1989 6 spd. The car is stock. I am getting voltage spikes. This morning lights on driving to work the voltage went up to 17 volts. Then it dropped to 13.6 volts and stayed there for the rest of the ride, about 15 miles. Ant body have any ideas where to look.

Thank you
Joe

Have your alt checked or just give it a smack sounds like your voltage regulator is sticking.

antfarmer, I love the give it a smack comment. Just so old school, great. I am thinking the same thing. I just thought that it would loose voltage. But, I guess it can go either way. Thank you
