my 96 just cranks, strong raw gas coming from exhaust, removed all plugs they were all wet with gas and fairly sooty or black,,,injectors are pulsing and have fire to the plugs,,its flooding very badly could i have a bad fpr causing all cylinder s to have raw gas in them...? and is that the only reason all cylinder would flood,,,thanks for any help...and yes i will be changing the oil, there is also strong smell there,,,while the plugs are out i will also do a compression test .

Bob, sorry to hear this! The fuel smell highly suggests the FPR has a torn diaphragm. any fuel smell in a vacuum hose? do you have a fuel pressure gauge to confirm pressure @ the rails. any codes? you could have a bad CTS, CPS or related sensors.

thanks for the reply,,, i have about 40 lbs with fuel gauge hooked up, and no codes registered on code reader.; earlier there was a slight smell in the vacuum line, after i do a compression test i am going to replace plugs, this is a 383 , hot cam, rr s,,,the existing plugs are platnium, what would you suggest i use for new plugs.
update ,,, still will not start, i have spark to plugs , spark from coil, injectors are pulsing, remove injectors and placed ontop of intake to view, no leakage, installed new batterys, checked fuses on passanger side, they all look good, im stumped...

Damn...this has to be making you nuts, You've got spark...you've got gas..Is the spark good and hot blue ? or yellowish ? Anti-theft shutting it down maybe ....?
Check your timing. (Is that possible with the Opti?)
i have not been able to get back at trouble shooting but nothing has changed, installed new plugs, still cranks and i can smell gas,,i read somewhere that the tach is supposed to show a few rpms when cranking but it just sits there and does not move, where does that signal for the tach come from. pcm or opti,,, this is a new opti from petri, and has been working great for about 2 months,, 2k miles about, so i am getting a service manual to trouble shoot , hope to eliminate the opti or not, if it is i will have to remove it and send it back...im hoping it is a bad connection, when i can get back at it,,is there a down and dirty way by just making some quick probes with a meter to varify if it is the opti or something else,, thanks

Bob,
I have the FSM for the 96, looking through the troubleshooting guide for "Engine cranks but does not run" ( page 6-305 ) one of the first things it mentions is a stuck EGR valve causing a low air/fuel mixture.
