Not exactly sure as there are too many variables to account for. I believe the trans never had an oil change for the first 97K mi of it's life when I bought it. The previous owner just drove it like a Honda civic commuter car. I changed the oil afterwards and changed it again prior to each of my HPDE track days with the L98. I always used the Amsoil so the oil held up for 17K mi with OE power levels. I think the high mileage on OEM oil and my 4 track days setup a pending failure for the LS3.
A bad batch of oil isn't out of the realm. For the time being I'm using ACDelco 10-4006
(88900333) Synchromesh Transmission Fluid and plan to use this with the Blue tag and change the oil every 15K mi.
Pat, from Precision Motive in Hayward (the shop I use to work at), Allied auto parts in Fremont, and Fremont Chevy dealer all suggested to use this oil as it cross references the OEM oil GM PN:1052931. Its a little darker than the Amsoil amber color.
