Headers for an 86 Vette, cost? brand?
I have an exhaust leak at the manifold and instead of just replacing the gasket, I was thinking about new headers. What should I opt for on my 86 Vette? Cast Iron, auto. Where can I get best price and what headers to get to obtain the best performance increase. How many HP can I expect from the cha nge?

Hey there. I recently bought a set of TPIS long tube headers on the forum for less than $300 shipped to my door (with 3" front Y pipe). If you shop around, the deals are out there. If you have to go new, I think the Hooker Super Comp 2149s may be just a bit cheaper than LPE, TPIS. You can also try Exotic Muscle too. I think with all the headers out there, you'd see about 15rwhp. If you dont go true duals, make sure you get the front Y pipe too. Good luck.

I wote for the hooker because of the prices on the headers!!
Also think they are shorter "Long/mid tube headers" witch I think save some tourqe below 3k might be wrong though!!!
I went for the lingenfelt because my vette is a cab "got that big X under it
and lingenfelt where the ones that gaved me the least trouble, but they
are quite expensive so are the TPIs..
I would guess that I gained at least 20-25 hp.
But I did lost some of that "lorry torque" under 25K rpm but gained more of it and some power up there above 3k rpm. It changed the power and tourqe curve totally on mine,
because of that I wanted to be able to rev more and had the ADS chip in it great combination :)
God luck!! :)

I am not too worried about torque because I have plenty and I lowered my gears to 3.54's. Acceleration shouldn't be a problem. I just want the BEST, for the PRICE. Hooker seems to be a good choice.

Hooker or TPiS or LPE, Hooker seems to be the favorite lately.
