Default Wandering on a 90

I have a 1990 Convertible with FX3 with 95,000 miles on it. It seems to follow every deformity in the road and sometimes just plain wander. I have owned the car since almost new and it seems only more recently to be the case. Any suggestions?

Have the tires checked for wear pattern and get a four-wheel alignment.

My first Vette was a '90. It always seemed to wander , more so with the targa top off. I also had the FX3 option( which was only available on 6 speeds way back then). I had the car's tires, brakes, suspension checked out often. The tires never wore unevenly and the brakes and suspension always checked out.

Outside of your tires getting long in the tooth, I believe it is just the nature of the car. In 92 or 93 they changed the front wheels to a more narrower size than the rear. This was done to end the wanderlust of Corvettes. I had my '90 for 5 years until I got a '96 and it always behaved that way. Keep looking though and Good Luck. :flag

Adding to your list, check for worn wheel bearings, check rear suspension bushings connections etc. Check front ball joints, front suspension bushings. Check the rack and opinion for any loose or connections that seem to "wobble" (very technical term). Also, when those 275-40's get worn, they don't behave like new ones. Darn cars.

AS was said previously, check your tires and alignment. Tires that are older than 2 years could also have "internal" wear although this is not normally the case with "expensive" vette tires with stiff side walls.
Increasing your toe in of the front tires will help the wander but at the price of tire wear
since you didn't say your car under/over steer I don't thinK it's your shocks nor sway bar.
With the mileage on your car I would also check out the bushing. There all 10 year old pieces of rubber that have been bathed and showered in heat, oil, and whatever.
Finally, check your steering wheel "tightness" I am not sure how you'd get this done, but you'll need the feed back to help you diagnose any problems.
