TH700R4 -Overdrive clutch release spring set
Hello guys, it is my first time at the Forum. I have a Corvette 85 with only 32K miles. The trans TH700R4 had the 3rd gear slipping, without any abuse. It is also my 1st reconstruction of a TH700R4. In disassembly I noticed that it hasn´t the "overdrive clutch release spring set". I consulted the manual and learned that "set" were not installed in the TH700R4 this year. I ask. Install or not these springs? I am aware of the discussion because of the recommendation ATSG to leave these spring set out, but I'm not sure if they can be installed the spring set on a 85 TH700R4. I thanks any help or comments. Thanks. Darciofran.

Overdrive release spring???
never heard of anything referenced in a 700r4 with that...
talking maybe about the 3-4 clutches?
And the little release springs that sits between the top and bottom apply plates?
They look like little bits of sheet metal with springs in the middle?
If yes, you don't need them, but you can install them if you really want.
They have been said to cause issues, and if you change your clutch stack by adding an extra clutch or two, they will cause you headaches

Thank you for your information.
In fact they do not serve for a transmission of 1985. According to the manual of ATSG these springs so should be applied in transmissions from 1997.
