1984 overdrive kicks out?

1984 overdrive kicks out?

I have a 1984 Corvette with the NASH 4+3. I just changed the overdrive filter and fluid. Overdrive when activated only stays engaged for a minute or so. It did that before the fluid/filter change. Anyone can share some ideas on troubleshooting?

Does the light stay on or go out when the OD "kicks out"?

when the light is on the overdrive is engaged. When the OD kicks out the light is OFF.

Overdrive works intermittently? When it is working/engaged the overdrive light is on. When the overdrive kicks out, the light is off! Ideas??

OD-lamp is wired together with the OD solenoid and is controlled by the ECM. If no OD light then ECM is not commanding OD or relay is bad. You can force OD by applying 12V to the F pin on the ALDL connector.

You should connect a scanner to figure out what the ECM is doing.
