Default 700R4 5 pin round plug?

Aloha to all,
Some of you know the third gear in my 1990 C4 is gone. (27years isnt bad)
So Im doing a engine swap to a L83 built up with edlebrock heads, MSD, ingnition, and I hope a comp cam (box was in back seat of donor car)
Anyways, i also got a used GM rebuilt 700R4 to put in while I learn to rebuild mine. I put a B&M shift kit in the new one I got.
So today Im taking my old engine/trans out and noticed my 700R4 has a square plug on it and a plug on the tail section.
I did some research on the rebuilt one which has a 5 pin round connector finding an article stating it could be a 93, yet the case code is a 89, I think. (9MZM365B)
So can this transmission be adapted?
and does anyone know the wire order?
or
should i just wait and rebuild my trans?

Oh yeah and freight to Hawaii is way too much to order a stage II (quote $750 from Ca)

Thanks for any advice.

Is the round connector on the passenger's side, above the pan facing UP?

I know this sounds like a broken record, but a few pics never hurts to avoid guessing.

OP - the transmission code you've mentioned is only valuable in determining the "source" of the case. The 5 - round is very likely confirmation that the build was intentioned for a '92+ application of some sort, not necessarily Corvette but '92+.

I believe it's likely important for you to remove the pan and confirm the valve body wiring and THEN decide how to proceed. As IHBD mentioned you could revert very likely to the 3 - pin earlier connector but you've the valve body and wiring to sort.

As long as it's a 700, you can make it work. Like IHBD says up there, it's just a matter of wiring it up right. No biggie.

I'm just not familiar with a round plug. You see those standard on the E versions, and that will not work, regardless.

This IS a 700, right?

PS: Can you post some pics? Not saying it's not a 700, but I'm not finding this connector in my parts book.

Doesn't mean it's not possible but pics would be nice?

Hi,
yes the two connectoins on my 90 is on the driver side, and the six pin is on the driver side.

i found a great forum that helped alot.
https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums/c4-tech-performance/3042768-700r4-wiring-5-pin-to-4-pin.html

I will swap the harness, thanks

I have another question, while adding the shift kit, i noticed the pump valve in the front of the trans is stuck in the transmission? I tried using a valve lapper suction cup to pull it out yet its stuck? And of course thats the last spring in the shift kit to change.
does anyone have any advice, or know how to push it down?

What he said ^

There is a ridge that will hold the c-clip, don't be fooled by it.
Keep pushing the valve and the clip up until the clip sits in the groove.
The clip nearly dissapears once its seated.

IHBD is right. It's spring loaded.. Just take a small socket and an extension and bounce it till it drops.

When you put it back, glue the PR valve back in place with transgel. Make SURE it is seated before following with the rest of the lineup.

The reason for this is because: If you get that valve sideways and gall the pump? You're screwed. That valve can't hang.

Like he says, be patient. Take your time. Glue the valve in good, and then follow it up.
