Default Want your opion on air intake items

Hi all

Sorry if this has been asked a million times.

I have been thinking of installing an air foil and a straight air intake duct on my 1985. I have put an older slp cold air intake with K&N filter on the front end. Also have Power Effects exhaust on the car.

Have mixed opinions on these 2 items

was looking at the Mid American tube

Any one ever do any real testing after putting them on? Or just a throwing money away

PS also chipped the engine. Stock otherwise

Thanks

Dave

Looks only you wont make an ounce more power with any of the screw on gadgets. In theory they should work but in real life do it for looks only if you like;TPI is such a long convoluted air path not much is really going to help it
the hypertech chips are convenient for turning fans on earlier thats about it.

I think it takes at least 30hp to even notice a difference in gains and maybe more like 50hp. A person wants to believe these items work, but they have been tried for decades now and tested wit the same results. It's a feel good part not a performance adder part.

Same as the old days. Real engine parts or gears that is how you change how a car behaves.

Air foil - snake oil...don't waste your money. No gain from the power coupler. Old good reason for using it is if you go to a 52MM throttle body. This will fit the TB whereas the stock coupler will not.

Cliff notes: Placebo effect. It lightens the wallet though. I wish people would stop trying the cheap and easy methods. They produce more money for the seller than power, IMO
