Default Tire and Rim choice

This is for my Base 1993 Convertible.
Will the OEM 9.5 x 17 rims from the rear fit the front position with no clearance problems?
I am looking to end up with the same look and the same size front and rear tires.
I will be needing new tires within the next 6 months or so and the lack of availability of the OEM Tires ( P255/45ZR17 and P285/ZR17) concerns me. The P275/40ZR17 which will work with the rear OEM Rims seem to be available from more Tire Companies.
Thanks, Barrier

You'll have no issues with OE 9.5 X 17 on the fronts with 275/40 tires.

A Z07 option would include the 275/40 X 4 with 4 X 9.5 wheels. '93 was the 1st year of the "stagger" fit wheel/tire options.

I agree with the others.

All four 17" x 9.5" works fine with either 275/40/17 or 285/40/17 tires all around.

Currently both my '95 and '96 have been converted to the "square" setup with 275/40/17 tires.

If you originally had 285/40/17 (26" diameter) tires and go to 275/40/17 (25.7" diameter) tires the speedometer will be slightly off. With the 275 tires when the speedometer says 60 mph you will actually be going 59.27 mph. That is close enough for me.

Here's something that might be of use to you: https://www.wheel-size.com/calc/

I just upgraded the tires and rims on my 86 last Feb. I wanted new tires but was very limited in options: BFG's only and they had some availability issues. I went from 16's to 18's which gave me a lot more options. I still went with BFG G-Force tires but instead of having 1 option, I had my choice of about 12-15 different tire manufacturers/model tires. I plan to do some road trips down the road, and at least this way I have choices in case I have tire issues while out of town. Between the rims and tires, they fit just like the oems did so no rubbing, scraping etc and the speedometer is right on.

Went from 16x9.5 +38 rims with 245x50zr16 tires (oems are 255x50zr16's) to 18x9.5 +40 rims with 255x40zr18 tires. They were a perfect fit for me.

Use the calculator and see what fits or doesn't on your car and figure out your options if you so decide.

Thanks for all the information.
I don't need new tires yet just preparation for next six months or so.
Now to search for two more rear 9.5 17 Rims to match the ones I have.
