My friend and I were in AutoZone yesterday, and the store manager said that they sell the aluminum heads for his 91 L-98 Vette for $181.00 each with a 1-year warranty.
Has anyone ever heard of this??? The guys says that it takes about a week to get them in.
His 91 was out in the parking lot, so we took a look. Heads looked like new oem aluminum L-98 heads.........
$360.00 for a pair of rebuilt aluminum heads sounds like a good deal. :chevy

If they are OEM heads, then I'm going to A-zone and buying about 10 set to sell on EBAY. I sold my stock used heads for 450.

AutoZone sells some good parts. I am using a AutoZone clutch in my nitrous powered ZR-1. All of the parts were identical to the stock OEM clutch. They had the exact same Valeo casting numbers and markings. The best part is a lifetime warranty and a $400 savings over the parts from the Chevy parts counter.
Total cost for a new ZR-1 clutch kit from AutoZone is only $249!

That's a great price... Valeo is the only one who manufactures the clutch for the ZF6, so if you bought one no matter where, you bought a Valeo clutch.
Cool...Even if the springs are not that great, you could easily upgrade them and have some porting done for well under the cost of an average aftermarket head.
Nice find...
Makes me wonder if they can get Dana 44s? Now that would be awesome! Especially with a lifetime warranty so when I spray mine all out all I loose is my labor costs. I work pretty cheap for myself though ;)
A head from Recon could be a cracked and repaired head. Reman heads have just whats wrong with them fixed. They may put guids in but not do a valve job, reuse the springs. Your better off taking your head to a good machine shop and having it done right. I've got cranks from Recon before that had the mains cut wrong. One would be .010 and another would be .030. I'd stay away from the "good deal"

Would this be the same clutch for my '94 LT1 car? All the 6spd's are ZF's right?
I just checked Autozone Online and for both the ZR1 and LT1 cars they only list a "Cumberland" clutch. The part numbers are one number different. The ZR1 is $249.99 and the LT1 is $249.99.
Is this the Valeo clutch?
How's it holding up in that bottle-fed Z?
Think it would be adeqaute for a heads/cam bottle-fed LT1 car?

Yes, this is a stock Valeo clutch. I have about 2,000 miles and over 20 dragstrip passes on it and it's holding up well. My car makes 462rwhp and 510rwtq. The clutch should hold up behind your LT1 as long as you don't slip it too much at the drag strip.
