Default headlight chatter

Next door neighbor just bought a '93 coupe. when putting the headlights down the left one chatters for a few seconds after it's fully down. simple fix or a big deal ? I know on my C5 it would probably be a bad gear in the motor but I don't know anything about C4's. Thanks, Bob

One of the More Popular Questions asked on the Forum, not tough if you are a little Handy with the tools and probably only the Bushings inside the gears. is there a white plastic dust on the frame below the head lights if so Pretty good chance it's just the bushings are bad not expensive at all

Just replaced one of my headlight bushings, the pucks had turned to dust, but nothing white all over the inside until I took it apart, so you don't always get the telltale sign that they are bad, just the noise.

I found someone on ebay with 6 of them for cheap:
Do a search for HEADLIGHT MOTOR REPAIR KIT PELLETS/ BUSHINGS
I paid under 7 bucks to do both headlights.

I have a 93 and it was doing exactly what you described. Put in the new bushings, works perfectly now. The hardest part from that video that S CARTER posted was getting the brushes back inside the headlight motor, which had to come apart to get the gear off of the housing... It's doable though. That part wasn't on the video, just beware that your gear may not just pop off. To get it back in, I cut three small grooves at the bottom of the gear to let it slide back in place because it fits so tight.

Take pics along the way to make sure you put it back together the same way. Good luck.

I did pretty much the same thing with the Grooves but I hit 1 edge with a Box Cutter and smoothed out with Sand Paper, I thought they mentioned in the Video but Either way Good Catch.
