Default 1984 Vette running rich

Changed out the Coolant Temperature Sensor and she ran better for a while now it smells like she's running rich again. Any thoughts on what I could check to be a cause?

Crossfire, new plugs and air cleaner plus air cleaner base gaskets and the aforementioned CTS replacement.

Did you upgrade to the newer sensor & connector?
Check the vacuum hoses, esp the one that goes to the map sensor.

Careful as "smells" are highly subjective, changeable with driving conditions/habits and smells come from dozens of different places on the car.

Because of the TBI "open spray" set up your L83 will be a little more gas smelly than a TPI set up that has enclosed injectors.

I'd be more focused on making sure your car is running right with all the diagnostics squared away, proving that she is in spec.

He's probably smelling it out of the exhaust.

Could very well be. If it is not throwing a code, I'm not sure how you adjust for "smell"?

Thanks for the responses guys! CTS changed three weeks ago and a new pigtail put on.
I'll check the MAP hose.

The check engine light is inoperable. The dash has been sent out and repaired and all switches work as they should.

Just noticed the smell and my buddy the "mechanic" took it for a drive said car runs well but it smells like its running rich.

The PO installed Roller Rockers as an upgrade. I am not certain how this affects performance?

Check the ecm grounds at the back of the heads, if they're loose or dirty funny things can happen. Check Ign timing, as this can effect engine vacuum (which effects map readings) and make sure it advances when you rev it.
Check the fuel pressure, maybe its too high.
You might want to get it scanned to look at live data.

Sorry, this confuses me... what works and what does not? If your CEL is not working...why?

If your roller rockers are the same ratio as stock, then they will have very little effect on performance. Roller rockers will have slightly less valve train friction than stamped at higher rpm. They would be good if your engine has been modified to breathe better at high rpm.

Do you have any info on their ratio?

My 85 had 1.5 stock stamped rockers, and I've read that they are actually a little less than that in reality. I went to the 1.6 to get a bit more lift from my stock cam.

The 1.6's are probably giving a small boost to your power across the powerband, so that's good.

The bad is that at 144k miles at rebuild my valves had deposit buildup on the tops of the valves which was very bad for airflow. That would negate any performance mods.

Here is my recent thread on my rebuild:
