As well-worn as this topic may seem, I cannot find specific instructions. I have an 84, the dash pad is already off, exposing the top of the headlight switch. The **** and plunger/shaft/stalk sticking out of the dashboard needs to be replaced, as it is broken near the end and will not retain the **** any longer.
I have a replacement new ****/plunger. I have read there is a button of sorts that when depressed, will release the plunger, allowing m to pull it out and replace with the new one.
I cannot find this button.
Any help on exactly where this is, how hidden it is, what tool is needed to get to button, and if it is accessed from the top, side or bottom, would be greatly appreciated.
Have searched other threads, and cant find this info. Thanks!
Pull the rod to the detent then push the button and finish the removal. I seem to recall that if you push the button and then pull from the OFF position it hangs. I've not done an early GM HL switch for many years but that's best of my recollection. The switch was used by all GM for decades.
