Crossfire injectors dumping fuel
I haven't worked on it in a long time, so I want to take another shot at getting my 84 Vette running right. I bought it as a project, got it to start, but it idled very rough and I couldn't get her to rev. I checked the throttle bodies, and it looked like they were dumping raw fuel instead of spraying a mist.
So I bought replacement injectors, installed them, and started the car up. It seems a little better, but the injectors still look like they're pouring way too much fuel in. I've watched videos of the injectors at idle, and they look like they're spraying a fine mist. Mine look like they're pushing way too much fuel.
The emissions system had been partially detached when I bought the car - would that have an effect on the injectors' regulation?
Thanks for any advice.
Nick
The TBi is a pretty robust system, and you need to "baseline" it.
You need to make sure (other than your injectors) that you check your systems. You need to check your Coolant Sensors, adjust your TPS, make sure your IACs are good, your O2 is functional and your MAP sensor is good. If those are in spec, your car (baring something else) should run good.
When you say "dumping fuel" do you mean "dribbling, gas dropplets"? If you are getting the drops, then your injectors are dirty. Anything other is probably just "lots" of gas because your system is out of spec.
