Moderate frame rust under my battery :(
How bad a thing is this, and what should I do about it? Looks like the battery has leaked at some point and instead of the acid running down the "drain" in the battery tray, some ended up on the frame. Car's an '88.
I would imagine that this has to be a fairly common thing. I'm planning on cleaning the area off as much as possible and applying some type of rust-stopper. How concerned should I be about the damage?

Depends on the extent of damage; minor should be good to paint over after a thorough cleaning.
You might also want to clean the area around those two relays above and behind the battery. Mine showed some white residue, no doubt from fumes.
