I decided to replace the whole rack instead of just the inner tie rods on my 93. I have a arms and sway bar out for a full rebuild. I am having a ton of trouble getting the power steering lines off the rack... I don't see any way to get a wrench on them???? the other issue is I can not pry the rack totally out of the steering shaft joint. I saw super Chevy while write up on this job but it looks like they have much more room, and it was on a earlier c4. Anyone have tips or tricks to get this sucker out??
I did this a while ago, I had the radiator in it but water pump and optispark was removed. It was still a b**ch to remove the rack.
Sorry, I have no tricks for you that would make it easy. But make sure you have some good flair wrenches.

The only help I can offer is to use a crowfoot socket on the lines. That was the only way I could get enough torque to loosen them.

I couldn't get a flare nut wrench to move when it was on the flare nuts on the rack because of interference with the frame and hydraulic lines. I was replacing one line because it was leaking, so I bent it back and forth until it broke off (didn't want to hacksaw it because of metal particles).
When I first started to take my rack out I thought I could get it out without removing the anti-roll bar. I was wrong about that.
Thanks for the replies fellas, I'm going to give it another stab tonight, ok move the ac compressor out of the way and if still no room... the radiator. I guess I'll keep digging and taken things in the way out. I will report back tonight, thanks again
Any update on removing the lines. I have a 94 I need to do shortly.
to get the front bigger line you slide the wrench from under the boot, top one I cut the line because it was seized. Advance sell a 90• hardline I used for replacement 16m I believe
