I have my '85 upgraded to the 165 ecm and for whatever reason I am experiencing a dreaded code 36. Can anyone show their burnoff test procedure for an '86? I have the '85 fsm which is useless for this. I have the early style relays, both are new and they are the correct part numbers, not identical. I have all other issues I had posted about recently resolved and the car is running great except for the code 36. I would sppreciate it if anyone with an '86 fsm could post this procedure for me.
Thank you! That thread has the function test instructions I was hoping to find. I had used the search but there is a ton of threads on the code 36 and I quit trying before I found the one you referred me to.

I've never had a reason to compare the CODE 36 for the various years BUT you mention having "different" relays so it might be good to actually have '86 diagnostics. '87 - '89 used a "pair" of the same. I'll gather the '86 and maybe then you could at least compare. I didn't bother comparing I'll leave your car to you. A quick glance though looked to be very different relay pinning. The only thing I recall about CODE 36 and I believe it was in the '86 FSM they told you Tech1 couldn't help with diagnostics.
What relay #'s do you have? What year did your 165 stuff come from?
I didn't bother reading the 9 page thread so maybe these are posted later.
