Default Running bad Miss firing

Hi all, my 84 350 crossfire is acting strange I started it up one day and ran great nice and even hit the gas and it ramp right up nicely didn't drive it ...Went out the next day to take it for a drive and it started but ran lousy... smoke rolling out the tail pipes...and come from the engine slightly it sounds like its miss firing and by the gas gage it went thru a 1/4 tank I'm puzzled what happen over nite ... any help ...Thank for your time

Without much information, here is my guess;

Check your coolant sensor. If not working correctly, a faulty coolant sensor will send mixed signals to the computer and (in this case) the engine is running rich without the IAC opening for additional air to compensate.

It could be a ruptured fuel pressure regulator diaphragm. Make sure there is no fuel in the oil.

Thanks for the info... I put a new fuel pump in...Where would the regulator diaphragm be located ... Thanks for your time
