Default 1985 wiper motor install

i have a wiper motor, have tested the wiring, whole thing appears to operate correctly.

Ive installed it once, but had a really hard time getting the motor into place, then couldn't get the bolts to seat correctly, and the wipers would go too far out and go off the edge of the windshield entirely, and not go all the way back down in front.

I think loose mounting was my biggest issue. Does anyone have suggestions on bolts to use to install, method of install, and how to seat the motor correctly? It felt like the bolt holes didn't line up correctly when I tried to put it in before.

Thanks!

Do you have the correct mounting grommets for the motor? The bolts I believe I'd want the GM/OEM that have the correct external toothed shake-proof washer and the bolt/washer has a taper to fit grommet and secure the motor.

A generic countersunk machine screw and appropriate washer would likely do. If someone measured the length and ID'd the thread, pitch etc you could shop those locally.

ah-I don't have the original bolts, that should be remedied perhaps. Didn't realize they were special.

No Guarantees but I think you can Steel them from other G.M. Vehicles So a trip to the Junk Yard may be what you need.

Until I confirmed diameter, length and pitch I don't know that I'd go on such an adventure.

They do appear to be the same as the AIR pump mounting on the '92 & '93 LT1 cars, LT5's too but I'd think much better luck doing something other than those.

10132913 should yield some interesting eBay options. I'd think that maybe better than a JY adventure. I still think the "parting a car' search in the WTB/FS C4 parts the better option.

OP hasn't mentioned yet if the OE grommets are in the motor he's attempting to use. They're a must!
